“NEW VAGABUNDA” has a hull in mahogany planking (8 cms), completely overhauled and constantly maintained on a yearly basis. Inside there are 5 very spacious double cabins, 5 bathrooms with tub or shower, 4 crew cabins, 3 kitchens, 3 control stations, command booth, wide solarium, relax area and laundry room. The master cabin is on the main deck and it is equipped with a sauna. On the same deck there is also a breakfast room, furnished with a round table, whereas on the upper deck there is a magnificent dining room for 12 people, that can be fully covered and heated if necessary. The main salon, with an area of 50 sqm, hosts 3 meeting rooms with comfortable sofas and a gaming table. “New Vagabunda” is also equipped with 3 generators, watermaker, hydraulic mainsail and jib furlers, retractable hydraulic gangway, heating system and air conditioning. The hull was repainted in 2018, moreover “New Vagabunda” undergoes all needed maintenance on a yearly basis. The construction of the 36 mt Schooner

 

“NEW VAGABUNDA” was completed in 1942 in Rovinj, currently in Slovenia bust still part of Italy back then. Deterni shipyard was specialized in building big cargo vessels and fishing boats with traditional designs and solid hulls. “New Vagabunda” too was initially launched as a cargo vessel for service between coastal towns and the city of Trieste, that’s why it is very solid, with double planking (total thickness 16 cms) and a hull in laminated wood with a thickness of 120 cms. After more than 30 years of work at sea, an Italian Countess saw the abandoned vessl and she feel in love with it, although it was the following buyer, an Italian entrepreneur, to fully restore it around the half of the ‘70s and to give the vessel the current layout. In the ‘80s, “New Vagabunda” was sold to F1 champion Keke Rosberg and, later, to the current owner, who restored it to its former glory, with interventions like: replacement of 200 linear meters of 8-cm, heat-bent mahogany planking, general caulking of all upper works, replacement of bowsprit and refurbishment of deck on the upper deckhouse. Within the years, the line of “New Vagabunda” underwent changes, such as the creation of a squared deckhouse for the saloon and the master cabin. At the same time, the relatively small-sized windows along the sides perfectly reflect the style of the time. “New Vagabunda” was born to sail, with the main mast amidships, mizzen mast on stern, mainsail, fore royal sail and main royal sail, as well as a dual jib on the bowsprit.
