The CIGALE 16 was designed by Jean Marie Finot with the aim of creating a Fast Cruiser suitable for the Ocean, but at the same time comfortable and elegant, with construction in aluminum. It is the ideal boat for those who love to sail for many miles, very fast. Light displacement, very ample sails and equipped with Water Ballasts, this Cigale loves sailing downwind and well represents French maritime traditions, where functionality and sturdiness prevail on every other characteristic. Unlike Ovnis, as well as most of aluminum-made boats, the hull of the Cigale 16 has curved panels, instead of panels with sharp edges. The interiors are characterized by the spacious dinette at the end of the stern, under the cockpit, and designed in order to maximize the living and dining area by separating it from the saloon. Between 2016 and 2014 the boat underwent a total refit, with: replacement of rigging, new Hydranet sails, new Volvo Penta engine with 4-blades Max Prop thruster, installation of a Roll Bar for the mainsheet traveler. Moreover, it is equipped with dual autopilot, water maker, generator and hydrogenerator, 4 adjustable solar panels, Ballast with electric pump and mast with slightly taller rig.

ALUBAT was founded in 1973 in La Chateau d’Olonne (France) and, the following year, the shipyard introduced “Vodka” prototype, from which the first Ovni was later developed (the Ovni 25). This model was already manufactured in aluminum, which is the favorite material of the shipyard for boat building. However, it was the Ovni 28 launched in 1978 that paved the way for the new designs of the following decades, many of which were designed by Jean Marie Finot, Philippe Briand and Marc Lombard. Currently, Alubat produces several boat ranges: Ovni (from 365 to 495); Ovni Evolution (46 and 52); Cigale (from 16 to 22 mt); Alubat 58 and Ovnicat 48. The shipyard has built more than 1,500 boats so far, all made in aluminum. View the technical brochure of the Cigale 16
