Royal Huisman

Royal Huisman è un cantiere navale olandese specializzato nella costruzione e riparazione di yacht a vela Custom e One-Off. Il cantiere navale nasce nel 1884 a Ronduite come costruttore di barche da lavoro e da pesca in legno. Nel 1954 Jan Huisman si specializzò in barche a vela in acciaio e suo figlio Wolter passò agli scafi in alluminio nel 1964 con la serie 30 piedi Van de Stadt AVENIR. Negli anni '70 lo sviluppo di alberi in alluminio estruso e la collaborazione con i designer newyorkesi Sparkman & Stephens (S&S) hanno consentito a Huisman di attingere agli yacht ad alte prestazioni e al circuito internazionale delle regate: il cantiere ha varato il suo yacht più grande fino ad oggi, il pluripremiato 60 piedi di Jakob Isbrandtsen S&S sloop RUNNING TIDE, nella sua nuova sede in acque profonde a Vollenhove nel 1970. Nel 1973 lo sloop S&S SAUDADE I da 47 piedi di Albert Büll costruito da Huisman I vinse la Coppa dell'ammiraglio per la Germania. Nel 1976, il cantiere costruì l'S&S ketch Flyer da 65 piedi di Conny van Rietschoten per la Whitbread Round the World Race 1977-78, che vinse. Il loro successo è stato ripetuto nella gara di Whitbread 1981-1982 con il nuovo sloop Flyer II da 76 piedi progettato da Van Rietschoten che ha vinto gli onori di linea in tutte e quattro le gambe.

A sua volta il cantiere si è sviluppato con successo in Maxi yacht e grandi yacht da crociera con i designer Germán Frers e Ron Holland. In occasione del suo centesimo anniversario nel 1984, il cantiere ha ricevuto un charter reale dalla regina Beatrice e ha cambiato il suo nome in Royal Huisman. Nel 1989 il cantiere ha preso parte a una nuova tendenza di revival dei grandi yacht classici con il restauro completo del prestigioso yacht Endeavour di classe J del 1934 di Elizabeth Meyer.

Attualmente, il cantiere produce imbarcazioni tra i 25 e 90 metri, tra cui segnaliamo i S/Y Athena, Sea Eagle e Aquarius, così come il M/Y Phi
