X-412

Introduced to the public in 1990, the X-412 is the first model in the range of high-performance Cruiser-Racers produced by the famous Danish shipyard X-Yachts. The X-412 has had great success all over the world, especially in Italy, where the cruise-racing category of boats is traditionally very popular. As with all Xs, the design is designed by Niels Jeppesen and is typical of the transition period between the IOR and Ims regulations: pronounced overhangs, particularly at the bow, centered maximum beam and limited freeboard. The X-412's sail plan is generous, with an overlapping genoa that gives power even in light airs. The presentation of the X 412 represented a turning point in the history of X-Yachts also for the care with which the interiors were created: a sober and welcoming environment for cruising. The X 412 was built in three versions: MKI from 1990 to 1994, MKII from 1994 to 2000 (with renewed interior design) and MKIII from 2000 to 2003. Fast at all speeds, the X 412 remains a current boat , still able to compete with a good chance against newer boats.

X-Yachts is a Danish shipyard specialized in the construction of sailing boats. Since 2019, the shipyard started to product also power and motor yachts to expand its offering.

   

The shipyard story

X-Yachts was founded in 1979, in Handerslev (Denmark), by brothers Lars and Niels Jeppesen. The two founders were passionate about regattas and pleasure sailing. The first shipyard’s boat, the X-79, was launched in May 1979. The success of this sailing boat was immediate and the X-79 was produced until 1994 because it was very popular in the nautical world. During the following years, X-Yachts becomes a leader and a worldwide reference point in the sailing boats production.   In 41 years of business, celebrated in 2020, the shipyard manufactured almost 60 models. The most famous were:
  • ISAF One Design class X-99;
  • Spacious and luxury Performance cruisers such as X-6, X-65, IMX 70 and X-73.
   

The motor boats production: X-Yachts acquires HOC Yachts brand

 X-Yachts, whose aim is to respond to the even-increasing demand for motor yachts, acquires the Swedish HOC Yachts brand in 2019. After the acquisition, X-Yachts’ offering becomes complete and today it includes:
  • For the sailing boats’ segment, the X-Range line; the X-Cruising line for cruisers focused on comfort and style (XC 50; XC 45; XC 38) and the X-Performance line, that unites high performances and the comfort of a family yacht (Xp 55; Xp 50; Xp 44; Xp 38).
  • For the motor boats’ segment, X-Yachts has already designed its first two power boats, the Explorer and the Cruiser, for which we will have to wait the 2021 edition of Dusseldorf Boat Show.

Launched in 1990, the X-412 marked a turning point for the prestigious Danish shipyard X-Yachts, becoming the emblem of high-performance Cruiser-Racers admired worldwide. Designed by Niels Jeppesen, this model combines sleek lines, pronounced overhangs, and a generous sail plan – capable of delivering power even in light winds, thanks to her overlapping genoa. Agile and responsive on all points of sail, the X-412 continues to impress today with its performance, elegant design, and ease of handling.

But it’s not just about performance: the X-412 also introduced a new standard for X-Yachts interiors, featuring refined, understated, and elegant spaces designed to offer genuine comfort even during cruising. Produced in three versions (MKI, MKII, and MKIII), it remains to this day a prestigious choice for those seeking a solid, fast, and timeless yacht.

This X-412 is the MKII version with 3 cabins (including an owner’s cabin forward) and 2 bathrooms, and is well equipped with: carbon spinnaker pole, color GPS with cartography, autopilot, Webasto heating, external cushions and sun awning, fully equipped kitchen, electric toilet forward. In 2022, the engine control unit was replaced. In 2020, a new genoa was installed. In 2018, the engine was replaced (currently approx. 670 hours), the rod rigging was renewed, new Raymarine electronics (6 displays) were installed, and the seacocks were refitted. VIEW BROCHURE
